Changing fleet environment

It has been a long time since I last issued a blog, what a couple of months.  Here within PVS Ltd we have been extremely busy and we are really pleased with our client’s feedback. Well, while I have been busy working for our customers what has changed?  Not a lot or absolutely loads?  It depends on your point of view on life.  I believe a lot has changed and will be changing over the coming months.

Connected Car

Well the biggest story here was the Mitsubishi issue with the PHEV that got hacked.  Well as all manufacturers put in place security to try and remove this threat, what do we need to do?

Well cars will be a major element of the expanding internet, with one in five vehicles having some sort of wireless network connection by 2020, accounting for more than a quarter of a billion cars on global roads.  The connected car is already a reality, and in-vehicle wireless connectivity is rapidly expanding from luxury models and premium brands, to high-volume mid-market models such as the Vauxhall Astra as a prime example.

So for us as users, providers and fleet managers it is about ensuring our/your drivers are aware of their responsibilities and what your expectation as a business is.  I would encourage you all to read up on this and make sure you put in place policies that help the driver understand their responsibilities.

Euro 6 Diesel Engines

This comes in, in September this year for all vans from 1,305kg right through to 12t vans and will have an even bigger impact on those that undertake conversions.  With the added add-blue tank on most vehicles you need to ensure that you are not putting your drivers at risk of overloading and should be working with your conversion companies to understand how this will work for you.  Good reputable conversion companies will be all over this and will be happy to help and support you as will the nominated dealer groups.  My recommendation is that you ensure you review your fleet and the build program to ensure you don’t get caught out.

I am very happy to talk to anyone about either of these subjects – you can call me on 07801 472 247 or e-mail me on marcus@puddyvsolutions.co.uk

Enjoy your summer holidays those that are very fortunate to be able to take one.  I am sure we will have an opportunity to catch up on your return.
